Ostracized for the unique magical abilities, Leah lives on the fringes of a harsh and cruel world. Her one friend is, Sir Ursa, the teddy bear she magically brought to life.

But things get dangerous for Leah and Sir Ursa after she finds the legendary Jackhammer, a lost relic from a time when the world was new. A tool such as the Jackhammer cannot go unnoticed long, and with its awakening it draws the attention of dark forces. And when they kidnap Sir Ursa and drag him into the tunnels, it's up to Leah to use the Jackhammer and save her precious friend.

Leah and the Jackhammer The Demon Ginktak Folly Book 1 eBook Adam Ortyl

Mr. Ortyl shows great promise for a new writer. I liked that the plot stays on key throughout, never running down dead ends or veering off point. Also, the characters are well developed, and their motivations are true to those of real people, even some of the characters who aren't people. I was left to wonder at first whether her bear was actually "alive" or only lived inside Leah's head.
The book starts as a seeming "after the Apocalypse" story, but before the end, a new thread is smoothly introduced which leads the reader into a possible "swords and sorcerers" venue. It seems the author has left room to expand Leah's world into many possible directions. I can't wait to see where the sequels lead.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sci/fi or fantasy. We may be watching the birth of another very talented writer.

Leah and the Jackhammer The Demon Ginktak Folly Book 1 eBook Adam Ortyl Reviews

A Trickster Eric Novels review

Adam Ortyl asked me to read his novel "Leah and the Jackhammer". It's about a girl who goes into an abandoned mine in a mini mecha because a monster stole her semi-sapient stuffed bear. It was darker than I thought it would be but more on that later. I will examine plot, characters, polish and then assign a grade.

PLOT

Overall I have good things to say about the plot. It has character driven conflict, a well developed mystery, and a satisfying conclusion. However, I have issues with certain scenes that feel like padding and scenery description can be vague.

First of all it develops organically; Leah goes into the mine with an objective, she accomplishes it, and in the process starts on a second one. Always she is driven by her own desires. "Prove I'm not a demon" is a compelling emotional background and is backed up by her actions. This keeps the plot on track and believable.

While she travels into the mine's depths, she unravels the mystery of its abandonment. One hundred or so years ago, all the miners vanished without a trace and to this day no one knows what happened. Leah puts the pieces together as she pilots the Jack-hammer through lizard monsters (gnasher) and human monsters (Saggah). It unfolds bit by bit until the climax.

The Reveal isn't shocking and it shouldn't be. In my opinion, I'd rather read something along the lines of "I KNEW IT!" than "Where'd that come from?" I'm not a fan of Shocking Swerves for the sake of originality but that's for other posts. The bottom line is that this story does a good job of building up to the reveal instead of trying to keep the reader in the dark the whole time.

The darkness I mentioned earlier comes from the Saggah's society. It is bloody and grimy and just-human-enough to be especially disturbing. (On Tvtropes we call this "Uncanny Valley"). Harold has to fight gladiator-style against monsters while the reader is constantly aware of the fact that the only thing between Leah and monsters is a thick sheet of glass.

Also, there's a theme of Corrupt The Cutie. A purple light attacks Leah early on and after that struggles with hatred that is 'not her own'. She begins to enjoy the power and invulnerability the Jackhammer provides in the manner of a bully. As I read the book, I wondered if the previous miners were mutated by hatred and this purple light, and if Leah was going to turn into a Saggah.

I like the way the book's conflict is resolved. For one, it was a surprise; a surprise separate from the main plot and yet still believable if one pays attention. For two, it neatly resolved a conflict that would have been difficult and messy to resolve otherwise. For three, with the same motion it points to the new conflict with a 'The Adventure Continues' vibe. It made me excited for a sequel.

However, I have more than good things to say about the plot. There is this one area that feels like padding because it does nothing for the plot. It's good for atmosphere and some character spotlighting but it drags on too long. There are things I'll mention under POLISH that bother me about it.

Also, the scenes with Harold don't do much for the plot either. One could cut them out and do little harm to the story. His scenes mostly serve to provide a glance at a society (indeed it's existence at all) that becomes important but even in that case it is background information.

CHARACTERS

Leah is a girl ostracized by her community because of her glamour, I.E. magic. She has a running character arc of 'Am I a human girl or a demon' and it is her determination to prove that she is the former that makes her the hero of this story. Mr. Ortyl uses the Jackhammer's fights to illustrate the hatred/killing (demon) vs compassion/restraint (girl) struggle within her. However, she still a child so she makes mistakes and has problems with immaturity and impulsiveness.

Sir Ursa makes a good sidekick. On one hand, he is more alive than a mere animated stuffed toy and thus similar to a familiar like a witch would use. However, he's at all times a voice of reason and regularly advises Leah to show caution and restraint, thus making her more a girl than a demon, and yet, like he himself says, he is part of Leah and cannot believe anything about her that she, deep down, does not believe about herself.

Harold serves little purpose in the plot other than starting the mine conflict, but I liked how he developed. He's a little kid whose a bully because something bad happens when he tries to be nice and it's implied that his father is abusive. The fact that Leah calls him "Fat Butt" (a hated nickname) before he bullies her each time help prevent him from becoming a flat antagonist. I don't know how the bad blood between him and Leah started but she contributes to its progression. The book points out a couple times that he would rather be nice than mean but nice rarely works out for him.

Finally, the villain is a good character. Mr. Ortyl gives them a surprising amount of characterization before formally introducing them. They perform their role in the plot well; just the right mix of evil and sympathy to make the final confrontation mean something. The sense of mystery about them is part of the book's appeal so I won't say any more about them.

POLISH

I didn't see any problems with grammar or spelling or word cruft. That's always a plus. The problem I mentioned earlier in PLOT is that some scenes are hard to follow for a lack of description in the environment. One of the battle scenes with the monster lizards sounded like a long string of the Jackhammer wadding through them to do things and so I didn't feel the urgency.

Trickster Eric Novels gives "Leah and the Jackhammer" a B.
For anyone who enjoys fantasy this is the book for you. The author's imagination and descriptions bring the story to life.
Exciting read. Cleverly done. Well written. Enjoyed its uniqueness and imagination of the story. Would recommend it for all ages.
Needs some editing, but the story is great and original and I enjoyed reading it. Hope to see more from this author.
the main character will grab you right off the bat and won't let go. very good story and a cast of complex characters. looking forward to the next one.
Let's get this straight from the start, I am not an e-book person. I need to feel the cover, paper and binding in order to enjoy a book as a whole. Yes, I am a through back. No, I couldn't care less what you think. That being said, when I read the sneak peak from the 'Look Inside' for this e-book. I had to break the vow and buy it immediately instead of waiting for the paper version to come around.
'Leah and the Jackhammer (The Demon Gintak's Folly)' is a wonderful fantasy story that will have you turning the pages long after you should be asleep or doing work while at work. It is a wonderful departure from the typical architecture of fantasy stories, creating a world that smoothly blends elements as natural as real life just outside your front door, with fantasy components. I look forward to the next book that continues this ongoing story. Leah and the Jackhammer (The Demon Ginktak's Folly)
I really enjoyed this book, it was a fun read! There seems to be a lot of backstory to this world that's still not revealed, so there's plenty of room for sequels. I'm looking forward to more books about Leah and would like to see her grow up and learn more about her powers.
I'll tell you right now that it takes a super talented writer to make me believe in love at first sight, or even a few days. Very few rarely do it and most especially not in a novella. Well, Ms. Campbell not only made me believe, but she just made an instant fan of me too. I adored Ewan, the Earl of Lyle, who was charming, charismatic, and often outrageous. Then there was Charlotte or "Cinderella" as he calls her, who was spunky, stubborn and witty. Together, these two created fireworks and their chemistry was absolutely amazing to behold. I adored them both and fell in love with their short but enchanting love story from the very first chapter. Bravo to this author who wrote such a heartwarming and romantic tale that literally took my breath away at times. I loved every second I spent reading this beautiful and touching little historical romance and cannot recommend it highly enough! 5 Wonderful Stars!

Stranded With The Scottish Earl edition by Anna Campbell Romance eBooks Reviews

Remember when Cinderella (via Walt Disney) sang her desire for her prince to come some day?
Guess what?
He came (pardon my sexual innuendo) and Anna Campbell really delivered! Phew!
The plot is, understandably, less complex than her novels; but for a novella-sized story, her characters, Lyle and Charlotte, are as robust and sensual as any well-developed novel-sized characters.
We all know people who behave rationally only part of the time, the rest of the time they're taking stupid risks and do things they might have to explain and pay for later. And that's what's about to happen, and Lyle and Charlotte know this. But, they're risk takers....
The romance theme was stepped up a couple of page-turning, fairy-tale degrees to steamy when our Cinderella doesn't just fall into bed with her sexy, handsome, and seductive PC...she literally puts one of her slippers in the middle of this charmer's bed as an announcement of her wanton wish.
Yes, there's a 2d plot...they have to rescue the livestock from flood waters; HOWEVER, by this time, there is no escaping the flood of emotions between our Cinderella and prince charming.
If you love...like... Regency romances with sizzle, I recommend you get your iced drink and enjoy Anna Campbell's story.
It is pouring rain. Ewan is soaked as he rides up to the very large home. Cinderella, or a close facsimile answers the door. She tries to turn him away, but he is stranded because the bridge is now underwater. Cinderella introduces herself as a maid named Flora.

In reality he is an earl who has specifically come to this estate to see the young lady. Her name is Charlotte and her father told Ewan that they were perfect for one another.

About 99% of this book contains only the two characters, Charlotte and Ewan. He is immediately enthralled. She is all her father described and more. She is spirited, smart, stubborn, lovely and absolutely perfect for Ewan.

Charlotte is immediately taken with this stranger who appears at her door. Ewan is humorous, intelligent thoughtful, kind and perfect for Charlotte.

This is more than romance. This is a love story. Two people get to know one another very well and what they learn about one another creates a deep and abiding love.

This is a novella which kept my complete attention from beginning to end.

Ms Campbell has created a wonderful sense of love and affection. Charlotte and Ewan are perfect for one another. She is darn lucky to get such a wonderful man and he is darn lucky to find the perfect woman for him.
This is the perfect story to read when you have a few hours free and you just want to dream away and relax for a little while. ‘Stranded with the Scottish Earl’ is a sweet romance novella that has a handsome, Scottish lord and a stubborn English woman in it. It swept me away from the beginning and I really enjoyed it.

Miss Charlotte Warren is living the perfect life or at least she believes it is and she thought her father thought so too so she’s a little surprised and hurt when she gets a letter from him telling her that he has found the perfect husband for her. In no way will she agree to marry this stranger!

Ewan Macrae, the Earl of Lyle is looking for a bride but he never thought that he would find her in a little village in the countryside but her father (who he met in London) made him curious enough to make Ewan decide to pay her a visit. But he never thought that a spring flood would leave them secluded from the outside world. Something that works in his favor because the woman that he meets isn’t very welcoming. But he knows in his heart that she’s the woman for him. So now he has a few days to convince Charlotte that marrying him wouldn’t be a bad idea. That he’s worth it and he will prove it in any way that he can.

I really loved the banter between Charlotte and Ewan and yes, everything did go fast but that’s much in the case in novellas. And sometimes you just want that magic where one look makes someone fall in love. Where love is simple. No fear, no hesitation just the knowledge that that one person is the one for you.

The story is told from both POV's. I’m really happy that the writer Anna Campbell gave this story an epilogue! It gave this story that something more.
Confession time I love stories in which the hero falls rapidly and permanently in love and then convinces the heroine that this is the real deal. There is something about a man willing to commit and to remain solid until he gets a commitment in return.

Improbabilities abound in the story--perhaps too many--but the writing is good, the characters are endearing and the story was fun, so I tied my disbelief to a bunch of helium balloons and let it float away.

The book is brief and breezy with a lovely (if highly improbable) ending, a good dog and a man who will help in the kitchen.
Daniel Irving receives a visit from his estranged younger brother, Steve, who gives him a key. This key opens a bank lockbox that contains nine letters from his father, his only inheritance. These letters lay bare the wisdom and history of David Irving, a wealthy and prosperous writer. As Daniel learns of his father's childhood and "The Old Man," he discovers a tradition of values and principles that become the legacy of the Irving men

Lockbox 436 eBook Todd Doyle John Graham

Lockbox 436 eBook Todd Doyle John Graham Reviews

Very strong, very powerful, an excellent book. If this book doesn't make you think about life and priorities, you don't have a pulse. John Graham Sr. and Todd Doyle have written something here that can really make a difference in the lives of the readers. Buy this book, I highly recommend it.
Just finished Lockbox 436 and am here to tell you that those lessons about life are so gripping and so well presented. While reading I was so engrossed with the interaction of The Ole Man and Davy that I wasn't aware, at the time, of the ultimate messages being taught. These men are geniuses (Graham and Doyle). Whew! Exale! Got to have multiple copies for so many folk in my life.
Bettie Perry
Lockbox 436, is a book that moves you. It will get your brain thinking about life. When I started reading the book, I couldn't put it down. It had me thinking about my own relationship with my grandfather, the values and principles he instilled in me. It took me back to the good memories we had together. This book is a very moving and powerful book. A lot of context for such an easy read. Anyone could pick this book up and relate to it.
Gabby St. Claire is crying foul play, in every sense of the phrase. When crime scene cleaner Gabby St. Claire agrees to go undercover at a local community theater, she discovers more than backstage bickering, atrocious acting, and rotten writing. The female lead is dead and an old classmate who’s staked everything on the musical production’s success is about to go under. In her dual role of investigator and star of the show, Gabby finds the stakes rising faster than the opening night curtain. She comes face to face with her past and must make monumental decisions, not just about the play but also concerning her future relationships and career. Will Gabby find the killer before the curtain goes down—not only on the play, but also on life as she knows it?

Foul Play Squeaky Clean Mysteries Volume 8 Christy Barritt 9781502480941 Books

I applaud Christy Barritt for tackling spiritual and physical issues with such flair. Unfortunately I have read all the way through book 9 at the moment and am having to wait for book 10. I love the series. It's a must read series from book one to whatever the number of books will total up to. The first books are downright hilarious and sleuthy. The middle books are more serious but I so appreciated the walk through of reasoning faith in all circumstances, no matter what life throws at you your gonna trust in God attitude. The mysteries seem to get more complex with each book aw well. What a journey! Read with a friend so you can talk it over.

Foul Play Squeaky Clean Mysteries Volume 8 Christy Barritt 9781502480941 Books Reviews

I cannot wait for book 11, to come out where are you? This book is wonderfully funny, full of surprises, tempered with God's grace. I find this book was an excellent read. Comical and suspense combined with a little romance. The character's Christian growth is very apparent, and is a good reminder to take Christ into your very life, not just 5 minutes with God while your hand is on the doorknob each day. Come grow your faith with Gabby as she finds the whodunit in this yet another wonderful book in the Squeaky Clean Series.
Another winner! I like that the author doesn't sugar coat and make things always come out the way you want, so much as in life. Always keeping you on your toes and twisting the plot that you think you can figure out, but ah ha, can't. Winning series , would recommend to anyone that likes a good clean mystery.
L.G. Blankenship- author
I love how Christy weaves Christianity into her stories. I've read all of the Squeaky Clean Mysteries, and have feel like I'm acquainted with all the people involved with the books. Christy has a great way of writing. Though there is some violence involved in her stories, there are no sexual activities going on, and that's hard to find in books these days. You feel like you are actually with the people, while they are running around solving crimes and living life. I can't wait for the next one that comes out the end of February.
Gabby finds herself right in the middle of things again as she goes undercover in a local play. Much is riding on the play and it seems as though someone does not want things to work out. I enjoyed seeing Gabby make the hard decisions, while being out of her comfort zone a bit. I likes how she did not hesitate to help out an old friend and enjoyed seeing her sort things out. It is another page turner and I look forward to more Gabby books.
Pretty good story with nifty characters with a quirky heroine struggling with romance and a mystery. Best part is that it is squeaky clean so I don't have to worry about recommending it to anyone. Has no foul language or steamy sex scenes. The whole concept appeals to me because the storyline, character development, scenes, etc. rely on author skills and not obscene distractions to make an impact.
This is one of my favorite books in this Squeaky Clean Mysteries series. The detective in me just can't put this kind of book down until I can find out what happens at the end. And this book will keep you guessing until the end, I promise you that. Gabby St. Claire is a crime scene cleaner and she seems to constantly be caught up in solving yet another murder mystery or mysteries. In this book, dead bodies keep showing up and Gabby just could be the next one. Should the play go on or should she back out to maybe save her own life?

Christy Barritt is a favorite author of mine, and I love this Squeaky Clean Mysteries series. These books are quick to read yet very suspenseful throughout with a good dose of romance sprinkled in.

I highly recommend this book and all books in this series. I am never disappointed with any book by this author. She rates A+++ in my book.
Christy Barritt always gives a great page-turner, and this one is no exception! The mystery definitely lead me on a windy road, and the ending hairpin curve really threw me! The romantic play in book eight was both disheartening and encouraging - an oxymoron, I know, but that's how I felt. I couldn't believe Riley would really truly walk completely out of Gabby's life (but did he really, or is there more to come?). While Gabby is falling for someone else, she has very conflicting emotions because of her feeling for both men. Her business is falling apart, and she has some serious thinking to do about the future. What will book nine bring? I can't wait to find out! Thanks, Christy Barritt for another terrific read!
Guy De Maupassant (1850-1893), if "Bel-Ami" is any indication, must rank as one of the best writers in the history of the western world. Born in Normandy in 1850, Maupassant became a disciple of the French author Flaubert early in life. Guy quit his job with the civil service after publishing his first short story, "Boule de Suif" in 1880. What followed was a phenomenal flurry of 250 short stories and six novels before his premature death from syphilis in 1893. During his short life, Maupassant helped to form the "groupe de Medan," a loosely knit group of naturalist writers headed by Emile Zola. He also worked as a journalist, covering such important events as the French campaigns in Algeria and Tunisia. A hard worker when it came to writing, Maupassant also possessed a zest for life, including a love for the ladies that eventually killed him.
"Bel-Ami" is hardly an original premise. How many books written through the years discuss the idea of a rural man heading to the city to make it big? That is exactly what happens with this book in the form of main character Georges Duroy. After a five-year stint in the French army, Duroy moves to Paris to make his fortune. Regrettably, Duroy is languishing in a lowly job as a railroad clerk until he meets his old army buddy Forestier. From this point forward, Georges is on the fast track to success. Forestier gets him a job at a scandal rag named "La Vie Francaise" where Georges rapidly ascends the ranks from lowly reporter to chief editor. Along the way, Duroy engages in all sorts of amorous adventures with women both high and low on the Paris social register. By the time the story ends, Georges is within sight of the highest positions in French society, all accomplished through sheer cunning and social maneuvering.
There are so many themes running through this sordid tale of the decadent Third Republic that it is impossible to adequately describe them all here. The introduction to this Penguin edition, written by translator Douglas Parmee, does a good job of showing how incidents in Maupassant's life appear in the character of Georges Duroy. The protagonist's rural background, his experience in France's North African expeditions, his work as a reporter and the subsequent expose of the seediness of journalism, the numerous affairs, the social positioning, and the philosophical musings on death are all expressions of Maupassant's personality and activities. I do hope, however, that Maupassant was not as big of a cad as Georges Duroy because this character may be one of the biggest jerks in the history of literature.
You cannot help but hate Duroy. He has little self-control except when he realizes that holding off on a conquest might mean self-advancement. Georges takes his mistress to the same theater where he picks up prostitutes, takes money from people without paying them back, corrupts women of high moral standards, sleeps with his boss's wife, seduces his boss's daughter, and physically assaults his mistress. There is just no way to sympathize with this guy, and the fact that he gains riches and fame is particularly galling to anyone with any sense of decency. But that is the message De Maupassant is trying to convey; that the complete decadence of French society during this time allows the likes of Duroy to succeed, and to succeed with a smile. Witness the scene towards the end of the book when Walter, Duroy's boss, grudgingly accedes his daughter to Georges's slimy scheme. "He will go far," says Walter, with more respect for Duroy's distasteful achievement than disdain for his lack of morals.
Another theme in the book, and one that runs through the pages like a 400-pound gorilla, is hypocrisy. The propensities for backstabbing, lying, and blatant disregard for self-realization in "Bel-Ami" is laugh out loud astonishing. These are shallow, manipulative people without a shred of decency, and Maupassant never passes up an opportunity to expose these despicable people. The hypocritical stance of the characters and situations often vie with powerfully descriptive passages of Paris and the French countryside, which are truly beautiful to read and have probably accounted for thousands of tourist trips to that country. The characters in "Bel-Ami" may be of no account morally, but they move and live in an environment of unsurpassed beauty.
Maupassant's knowledge of his own impending death weighs heavily in the story. Two sections highlight his musings on mortality: the monologue of the poet Norbert de Varenne and the death of Forestier. For the author, his slow deterioration from a disease made death a daily reality. What seemed to worry De Maupassant the most about death was not punishment from God but the idea of nothingness and being forgotten by the living. Of course, death makes no impression on Georges Duroy, who experiences only a moderate twinge over the passing of Forestier before making a play for that man's wife in order to improve his social position.
I am elated that I discovered this author. Guy De Maupassant is a brilliant writer whose early death robbed the world of a great talent. Although his short stories are considered some of the best ever written, do not pass by this novel. I have rarely seen an author who can write about mundane, daily situations with as much aplomb (see the scene about the fencing party as a prime example). De Maupassant's masterful abilities make this ordinary plot strikingly original and I will revisit this author again in the future. You should too.

Belami French Edition Guy de Maupassant 9781247251509 Books Reviews

This is a story of a basically unexeptional young man who climbs to the top of Parisien society by demonstrating the truth of "it's not what you now but who you know". Specifically he uses his attractiveness to women to seduce the wives of colleagues and aquaintances and through them to influence their husbands. George Duroy has an inflated idea of his abilities and a sense that he is entitled to wealth and power, not through talent and hard work, but because it is due to him. I think we all know of people who use their attractiveness to manipulate those around them. George is an extreme case, and unlike most stories bad behaviour does not lead to his downfall and he does not get his comeuppance, which is what makes this such a good read. The only relationship that i felt did not ring true was George's seduction of Mme. Walter, which is why I didn't give 5 stars.
I am glad I found this affordable version for my . The story grabs you right from the first page. It's an easy read and an interesting story. I am sure the movie version will be VERY steamy whereas of course the book isn't.... it leaves it all up to your imagination.
Not sure if this is a condensed version or not because I cannot speak or read French, but I did thoroughly enjoy this story. The first version I bought for was only $1.99 and was definitely a watered down version. I got about 50% through it and decided to check around and sure enough this version has all the juicy details I missed in the first go around. Even know I know the movie won't be nearly as good (they usually never are), I am looking forward to it.
I must start confessing that Maupassant is one of my favorite writers. There is nothing that he has written that I wouldn't recommend. This novel is one of his very best works which highlights his skills as a writer and observer of human nature. It is amazing how the novel starts with the introduction of a character which manages to manipulate the reader into liking him. Maupassant's insight into France's aristocratic social life makes the reader feel present in every event and just like all characters of the book are deceived by Bell Ami, so is the reader - there are no survivors to a man whose mission is selfishness. For anyone that wants to challenge his/her way of thinking about human nature - this is the book.
I really enjoyed the novel, although it is long and at times I wondered if I'd finish. It seemed to bog down in places, and I didn't pick it up for a long time. Fortunately those places were few. I've read that de Maupassant is like a chronicler of the 3rd Republic of France. I even did a short study of the 5 French republics. The novel is very captivating in the beginning, and thanks to my built in dictionary I was able to read the novel more easily. If you want to read a good novel that describes this time period well, I highly recommend this novel. "Bel Ami" is an attractive man who seems to have no trouble seducing women. In the beginning, however, working in a dead beat job, it's a former army buddy from the French conflict in Algeria who helps him out of the slumps by finding him a job in a sleazy newspaper. This, and his relationships with certain women help advance his position in society. During the novel France also gets involved in a conflict with Morocco, which lands a few friends of Bel Ami and himself a fortune. This is the 3rd republic's colonial phase. I don't suppose it's much different than the US. I've read Chaney made a fortune of Gulf War II.
In the Barn Sibling Lust Series Book 2 edition by Selena Kitt Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I picked this short piece up to have as my first read on my new kindle. I have a thing of pseudo incest, I am not going to sugar coat that I am kinky. So going into it I knew what it was going to be about. Although I was rather tempted by the idea of the Devil “actually” being inside the girls body rather than it being subjective. None the less once I got into the rhythm of characters natural naivety [although bracing since they are adults] I rather enjoyed the little short story. Not the best thing I have read, but the quotes were beautiful, ones I would write down and collect and Kitt's writing was a great introduction.
I enjoy Selena Kitt's work but I find myself unpleasantly surprised by this purchase. I could not believe that a piece this short could be referred to as a "book"! Perhaps a book of promos or catalog of all her other work but not a novella as you might be thinking and only loosely equating to the classification of a short story. This is a scene in a barn with no true character development and only the most superficial of establishing elements. The scenario could be anywhere about anyone but as written it seems like an outtake from WITNESS...
Well written story of Sarah who catches her adopted brother doing something in the hayloft that she does not understand, but it starts stirrings in her own body to learn more. Her upbringing has led her to believe that what he is doing and what she is feeling is evil but it feels good and it does not seem to be hurting him. She continues to spy on him as he returns to the barn and become concerned with her own feelings. Her excitement gets the better of her and she is discovered by Eli. They begin to experiment with each other and in their consummation they discover that what they experienced was not a sin.
The story, In the Barn was about one fourth of the download, the rest was short samples and advertising of other books by this author. The story was about a stepbrother and stepsister exploring each other In the Barn for the first time. The writing was fine but it felt like it could be developed into a finished story ~ it ended up in the air.
wow very interesting with Sarah who goes to the barn one day to get her Brother / Cousin Eli due to their parents or her parents needing him for something but discovers something she never thought she would with someone she has always thought of her brother / cousin Eli now she wants to explore what Eli has if you don't like this don't read the book but to me it is about exploration about yourself especially as a 18 year old girl Sarah and 20 year old Eli to find out more buy , read and review .. this is a short story but this is in another revised version go to Selena Kitt's page as well as her fb page and explore her dark erotica world ...
It's not that I didn't like the subject matter. It's that I didn't like the dumbfoundedness of the only two characters. They were naive to the point of silliness, despite growing up on a farm, with all the animals.

And for all you savvy shoppers (even if it's free at the time, because downloading is worth something, too), the actual story was only 39% of the content.

The other 61%? Ads for other books and other books' excerpts.
This story is VERY short about 25 pages in length. It follows the sexual awakening of the devoutly Amish girl named Sarah once she walks in the barn and finds her stepbrother in an awkward but erotic position.

As with Selena Kitt’s other stories, this book is PURELY sexual in nature. You get vivid, graphic details of Sarah’s sexual awakening while she and her step brother explore.

Looking for a good but QUICK read. Check this one out. Selena Kitt is becoming one of my FAVORITE erotic authors of all time.

Overall Rating 4.2 Stars

Would I Recommend Yes!

Would I Read Again Yes.

If you like my reviews you can find me on goodreads at Bookends Book Blog. There you can find more reviews and recommendations for your reading pleasure!
But the enemy is further ahead than anticipated, so Toren must accomplish the unthinkable in half the time.
The formula Court the woman that kissed him, then find his couple and unite them and become the Holy Warrior needed to put an end to his Fallen Brethren's schemes.
Only, his woman doesn't remember Toren, and his couple is a Rodeo Queen who thinks men are devils and an arrogant foreign soldier determined to prove her right. All that's left is to remind her, and get them to fall in love without killing each other. All before all Hell breaks loose, preferably.

About Archangels Creed

Twelve Archangels. Twelve couples. Twelve months.
Can they create the Holy Warriors needed to prevent the demon-spawned abominations from destroying the world?
Let the Summoning Begin.

****
Satan has found a loophole in the rules that govern his battle against Good. The Archangel Uriel sends twelve elite Warrior Archangels to Earth on a mission to even the odds against the demon-spawned abominations being produced.

Each Archangel has one month to find two people, unite them in love, and use their union's power to create the Holy Warriors needed to defend the world against Satan's unholy creations. And they have to do it while staying out of the demons' clutches.

But the mission isn't so simple when inheriting Humanity comes with challenges beyond the Archangels' training, and every milestone in the relationships affect the team's strength. Who knew headaches and PMS could be such a pain in the ass?

~ The Archangels Creed series will explore the story of each of the twelve Archangels as they struggle to complete their arm of the overall mission.

As The Creed world and plot evolved, it became so massive, twelve full length novels could never contain it all. So the Supplemental Series novellas, (AKA Bridge Books) were born. The AC Puzzle Pieces will provide in depth understanding of various facets of the Demons' plans and a look inside the minds capable of such aberrations. The AC Close Ups will take you along for the ride as the various couples involved in The Creed work out their individual issues and make the entire group stronger.

Author's Notes

*This book is a work of fiction. *Warning 18+ read and may contain spoilers*

I was back and forth between 4 and 5 stars on this one, so I settled on a 4.5. There were several things in this book that hit home and made me a bit angry. It started with the meeting of the archangels led by Uriel and right before Toren's turn to head to Earth (which confused me a bit since the intended couple needs to have their first kiss to bring the angel through the aether...). Uriel's on his high horse because the new Pope is causing quite the ruckus with allowing birth control and "ushering the church into the 21st century". *sigh...* This is why I'm spiritual without following a particular religion. I know plenty of Catholics/Christians that use the pill. And FYI, it IS the 21st century, and I like the new Pope. Does this guy know women vote now, too? Someone might wanna tip him off on that one...

Since Socerith (Satan's head honcho) has found a way to unleash his scientific experiments on mankind, it means Uriel and the others have to speed things up a bit and do their job in about 1/2 the amount of time. There's a commotion when the angels are told by Uriel he's picked out their future wives for them by choosing those who are vulnerable. Great Urie, nice...

The angels are urged to learn about how to please their wives but warned to stay away from what humans call porn (hey now, there's nothing wrong with porn. It's like salt: a little bit adds some flavor and variety). He reminds them of instinct, but that instinct without morality is how beasts behave. Some people need a lesson in this...

Meanwhile, Zool's only concern is that his wife be intelligent (oh how I can't wait to read about this one!).

On Earth, Toren reunites with his future wife Samantha by answering an ad she placed for a farm hand. He actually met her in book 2, but due to what she suffered he wiped her memory just enough so she would fall for him naturally rather than through coercion, as that would not be noble. Oh how I love this guy! Trying to get Sam to not be so hard on herself is no easy task. She's put up with a father who tried to marry her off just to get rid of her and has been eternally disappointed she wasn't born a boy, yet she constantly compares her own figure to one (as do most of the farm hands). Her self esteem issues lead her to judging anyone who has a voluptuous body as "easy". Really sick of girls who think like this, but with all the "real women have curves" going around she's not entirely to blame. Voluptuous women tell skinny girls to 'eat a sandwich' while skinny girls think all big busted women are fake. Even if they are, who cares? How about we stop judging each other?? She's also had to put up with "new ager" Joe who's a threat all throughout the story on several levels.

Toren begins his new job, but soon enough there's trouble. There's a fire in one of the barns and Samantha is badly injured. Add to that her coming down with the flu that's been going around. Toren marvels at the fragility of humanity, and wonders why almost no one sees that evolution and creationism work within the same paradigm. Too often we see people pick one or the other, and too many people think that Christians don't believe in evolution, or that scientists don't believe in a higher power/God. Everyone is right: -they're 2 halves of the same whole.

Then we get to Ezekiel and Skylar who are supposed to be Toren's couple. They meet at a small cafe where they both use the computers to find work. Ezekiel's first impression of Sky is that she's just another American slut because she wears jeans and a shirt that shows she has a nice figure and wears makeup as "armor". I can't tell you how sick I am of this attitude, too. Sexy is not slutty or stupid. Not to mention that jeans and a t-shirt aren't necessarily sexy. But I guess if you come from a country where women are forced to be covered head to toe, not allowed to speak or initiate sex, and only used for procreation and to dominate over that is how you would think. (It's unbelievable how some people are so quick to judge others). Of course, he's quick to offer to give her the directions she needs to Sam's ranch in exchange for a ride, so sure she couldn't defend herself against the demon in disguise who also wants to tag along. After some deliberation she finally agrees to giving both guys a ride.

Now I know there are tests bestowed upon us all, and I have no problem admitting I would have failed this one. Being kind gets you in trouble.

After hearing the demon's intentions and warning and telling Sky, he feels she gets what she deserves by trusting him. He's an oddly conflicted man: he hates everything Sky represents, but has an innate sense of protecting her...

Arriving at the ranch sets Sam's insecurities on high alert. As she's introduced to Sky-a former rodeo queen (I'll admit I don't know what that is) she wonders why Sky still "plays the part" if she doesn't want to be reminded of her past. Looking good and playing ONE role doesn't make one's entire life. Damn Sam, get some self esteem. Since the enemy (read the Devil) uses one's own doubt against their natural reaction you need to stop and think.

Since there's not much time to lose, it's not too long before Toren tells Sky and Ezekiel of the plans and how they are 'his couple'. Naturally, neither is open for this suggestion, as they really dislike each other! However, Sky finally relents only to be pretty much used. Ezekiel is used to being a soldier, and doing what is necessary to get the mission accomplished. Oh boy does Toren give him a lesson! He reminds him Sky is more precious to God than all men, simply because she is a woman. She isn't weak, and submission isn't a sign of weakness. Toren is sick of zealots who misinterpret the Bible and use it to their own advantage and use God's name to do it. Quite frankly, so am I. (This isn't limited to relationships between men and women BTW). The way Toren speaks-in "such awe and immaculate reverence"- makes both Sky and Ezekiel stop in their thought tracks. Let me tell you how some people in this world do need a swift kick in the attitude department...

After Ezekiel's brush with death via Toren, he goes to Sky to ask for forgiveness. Not knowing he'd been given visions of her terrible past, she actually does forgive him saying it isn't really his fault. He wasn't taught any better. Another test I probably would have failed.

But angels help in odd ways, and for reasons most humans will never figure out. Sometimes you don't know what good your seemingly insignificant or random actions can do. You're judged by a higher power, (the only acceptable judging) by what you know, not what you don't. And no two souls are judged the same. Angels are more spiritual while humans are more cognitive/physical. But each has the ability to be the other. That's deep-think about it. It means We are all equal but opposite, like all of creation, and we're more angelic than we'd like to believe. Thankfully due to Ezekiel's ability to swallow his pride and ask for forgiveness and Sky's ability to forgive that's what happened. With their union they became the warriors they were needed to be while Toren become more human (although he's still an angel) and allowed him to finally become one with his wife, Sam, and their quadumvirate was now formed. Good thing, too, because Satan's evil creations are on the move...

What I love is that the lessons of trust and forgiveness and judgement are all throughout the story. We'll all be judged, but we'll all also be able to ask for forgiveness.

We again see Kassern, but not his wife so much as she's suffering from the demon bite from book 2. We see the 4 warriors from the first 2 angels and we see Dorn being...well...Dorn. LOL He's still contentious and pretentious, but he's got a new addiction to caffeine which I love to no end! Dorn asks the human men to explain 'pillow talk' to him. He knows his wife, Sallie wants to hear it, but he doesn't want to ask her. OK, this part was highly amusing, but there's a lesson here, too. Ladies, men aren't mind readers. And guys, you need to ask your woman what she wants. It's OK to not know something. Ask and ye shall receive.

Toren thinks hearing the word God is the most wonderful thing. Saying oh my God or OMG isn't in vain like some people think it is IF you're saying it in an acknowledging way. Meaning, if you're pretty much saying "I know God made this and I'm giving it up to Him" it's actually nice. (** NOTE: I say God and Him b/c that's how it is in the book. If you're not particularly religious, that's OK-the messages are still there).

A paradox is when a person can't explain something. It's funny how we blame God for all the wrong in the world, but rarely praise Him for all the miracles that happen. Little as they may be, they do actually happen, and just because you don't see them doesn't make them non existent.

We get a glimpse of some of the future angels including Lyght, Zool and Salem which I liked, except...Salem's last?? He's emerald! I'm really looking forward to him!

This series keeps getting better, but more intense and deep. I will read book 4, but I am definitely reading the supplemental books first.

Summon Toren Book 3 Archangels Creed edition by Kenra Daniels Azure Boone Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

LOVE all the Archangel books so far and Toren was definitely not a let down!! Can't wait to read Lyght!!
As a guy, this isn't normally the type of book I would read. But, it came in as a recommendation, so I picked it up and I wasn't disappointed. I like how the book immediately draws the reader in. From the get-go you know something big is up. The angels are tense and the stakes are high. To compliment the plot, the author has a smooth-as-silk writing style that makes the book hard to put down and the action, from the intense passion between Toren and Sam to the combat between Sam and the enemy. One caveat, I hadn't read the previous two books (but I intend to) so, I was a little lost on the backstory. Yet, the story was still a damned good read even if I didn't know all the characters' histories.
Summon Toren is my favorite of the Archangels series so far not because it is the best, but because Toren is just my type of man! All three of these books are excellent reads and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a great read with plenty of action in and out of the bedroom!

Toren must do some amazing things in a very short time. The archangels have assignments that must be completed in a certain amount of time. Of course, obstacles get in their way and they call upon their human friends for help. That is a very simplified description of what actually happens in the book! I really hate spoilers!!!

Toren takes on the job of a cowboy at at ranch and that is incredibly HOT!!! I loved this book and couldn't put it down!!!
Toren is the third Archangel and is amazing! The angels are having to get their couples together faster now. Toren is sexy, hot and loving and very protective. The evil forces are gaining power and are infiltrating the good. Each archangel brings its unique power together to use against the force of evil that is trying to damage them.

You cannot go wrong with this series of books by these two authors! They are amazing!
Oh, sexy Toren..how do I count the ways??? Yet another example of pure lust! Toren will have you MELTING in more ways than one. SOOOO hot and dreamy I might have to read this again. This is the third installment in the Archangels Creed series and I'm already lusting for more! These angels are beyond yummy! I would definitely recommend this delicious read to EVERYONE! Every character in this book is amazing and I'm ecstatic to read more.
Summon Torn the third installment in the Archangels Creed was a fantastic read but, you really need to read the first two to understand where this story fits into the plot. It is another very well written collaborated effort by two wonderful authors who give you some very bad ass characters as well as wonderful, touching romance, smoking hot sex, extremely funny humor and some very incredible action scenes. Good is battling evil and events have been sped up on the evil side, so Toren is going to do things his way since he had met and saved the women he wanted for his wife and all he could think about was her. He doesn't know who will be his human pair so he proceeds to do things in reverse, wooing his soon to be wife and then turn his focus on his picking his human pair to complete his part in the mission of the Archangels Creed. He finds wooing his soon to be wife not an easy task and his human pair well this is going to take some work and his time is running very short. These archangels along with the other characters in this series are extraordinary and this is a must read. I look forward to reading about the next archangel and his story.
This is the second book in The Bunker series.
Lauren and Stan lead a coalition to Virginia to stop the expansion of The Genro Corporation from enslaving the survivors of a nuclear holocaust that devastated the planet. Along the way, they encounter the people who are trying to scratch out a life after the destruction of their country. Some good, some bad.
With new equipment salvaged from the experimental military lab in Spokane Washington, they hope to take on and defeat the Genro forces holding the east coast of the old United States in thrall to the needs of the corporation.
Little do they know, but soon there will be another encounter with the security wing of Genro known as Hydra. General Marzin has sent a detachment of soldiers and Bio-Bots to defeat the small band in Indianapolis Indiana. Marzin would have his revenge on Stan Black and the citizens of the bunker for killing his lover, at any cost.

The Bunker Book 2 The Bunker Saga eBook EJ Camacho AE Camacho Doris Jubeck

I was looking for a well written apocalyptic view of what "could be", if we experienced a world ending tragedy. Well, I found it in this series (1 - 3) of stories. I just finished Bunker 3 and could not put it down until I finished it. Northwest Territory is supposed to be next and I really hate waiting for it. Good read and amazing imagination of the author. I highly recommend this series.
Some sex, but still a good SF read.
I read book one and loved it, so I picked up book two and it was great. Now it seems I will have to wait to see what happens to Stan in book three.
intresting concept, held my attention, makes you think about how many underground units there are out there federal and private, and the private sector security, that border on army status
Book 2 picks up where Book 1 left off and if oyu were a fan of Book 1 you willlove Book 2. Action, great storytelling, futuristic weapons described in such detail that they are completely plausible. I am anxiusoly awaiting Book 3. Great work Mr. Camacho
The only thing wrong with this book is I have to wait for the 3rd. I remember when I first began to read William Johnstone's Ashes series. I got tired of waiting for books so I waited until the series ended, which by the way was a long time. Keep em coming
I read both this book and the first one back to back. The story grabbed me from the first page and swept me along with me reading as fast as I could to see what was happening, I think the author has done a great job at character development and keeping the action going, look forward to the continuing saga! Hope we don't have to wait too long!
What a wonderful read and an excellent story that imerses you in the adventure as if you were actually there. This is a continuation of the first book and if you have read the first installment of this series, then you will absolutely want to read this second book. I won't spoil anything by telling you about the story other than to say - Read it, you won't be sorry that you did.
One political question intrigues almost everyone who studies, participates, or is interested in politics “Why do people identify with a certain ideology and/or political party?” Numerous scholarly and popular books examine political ideology/party identification and why certain ideologies attract certain individuals. This book examines that question in two separate, yet joined phases. Why do people initially identify with the Left/liberalism and why do these same individuals abandon that ideology to evolve into libertarians? This inquiry is unique in its focus on former liberals/leftists who become libertarians.

Included are 23 stories from Americans and one Irishman, baring at least part of their souls to answer these questions. All contributors at one point identified with the Left/liberalism. Each explains what originally drew them to the left part of the political spectrum. Virtually all mention some version of the popular stereotype of liberals/leftists “caring for the average person.” And all came to see that as a wispy apparition, based more on intention than fact.

A common theme for why the liberals/leftists abandoned their ideology is the ugly discovery of the inherent elitism of leftists/liberals. Over and over in these stories, the contributors give examples of their liberal/leftist “comrades” explaining how they (liberals/leftists) are needed to steer the people in the proper direction, for their own good of course. The true believing leftists/liberals cling to this illusion. Through many different paths, the contributors to this volume come to see the anti-democratic, elitist nature of this belief.

An equally common denominator is the lack of respect for, or even acknowledgement of, personal responsibility in ones behavior. A core value of the Left/liberalism is victimhood. Everyone—women, gays and lesbians, people of color, public employee union members, the working class, and so on—is an actual or potential victim. As such, any dysfunctional behavior can always be excused as the result of societal oppression, racism and sexism, rich people and capitalists, corporations, “the man”, and on and on. Of course, negative external forces do exist, but they are not always (or even most of the time) the cause of crappy behavior or failure. Many of the stories in this book note that this refusal to acknowledge personal responsibility strongly influenced the contributor to turn away from the Left/liberalism.

Of course, disillusionment with the notion that government action is needed for every problem—real or imagined—is inherent in turning from leftism/liberalism to libertarianism. Many contributors expound upon this theme.

Many contributors also cite the power of classical liberal economic theory—truly free markets—as a factor in their leaving the Left. Real world examples of the failure of socialist/welfare state economic policy became too difficult to ignore.

Finally, a minor, yet telling, theme is the lack of humor or playfulness in liberals and the Left. Several contributors note the feeling of liberation once they rejected the dour self-importance of the Left/liberalism.

One popular conception of libertarians is that they are, for the most part, disgruntled old white guys. While that group is represented, more than 25 percent of the stories are from women and more than two-thirds are by people younger than 50. This gender and generational diversity extends to occupations—contributors include college students, law students, an attorney, a professional artist, public school teachers, a chemist, writers, a filmmaker, a law professor, a stay-at-home mom, a firefighter, the CEO of a $40 million company, a TV reporter, an editor, the CEO of a free market think tank, and a research engineer.

It is my fervent hope that this collection of stories will hasten the day when libertarianism is widely recognized for what it is—the political movement for adults.

Why We Left the Left Personal Stories by Leftists/Liberals Who Evolved to Embrace Libertarianism eBook Tom Garrison

Disclaimer: I am a contributer
FYI to the disclaimer: I received no compensation for my contribution, nor will I receive any in the future.

I wrote my essay in a bubble of my own reality and experiences. I wondered how Tom Garrison--this name on an email and picture on a Facebook page--could possibly organize all of the contributors into a cohesive book. Based on my own experience, I knew he was not heavily editing the essays. For the average political book reader, this may sound like a negative. However, I am someone that hates poor editing, and I didn't notice it with this book. I was too involved in reading about normal, everyday people that wrote about their experiences and their reality from their bubbles.

I found myself wanting to meet many of them (I haven't). Every single person was real. They weren't some talking head on TV or a picture above a syndicated news column. They were neighbors. As a Libertarian that feels civil rights are just as important as limited government, it's rare that I can find someone that sees life from a similar perspective. Even within the Libertarian party--as with all political parties regardless of how organized--there are schisms. This book is so optimistic about the future that I shake my head in disbelief that somehow 23 of us, independent of one another, and having no idea what the others were writing...we all managed to sound so POSITIVE about the future.

Libertarians are not known for being optimistic. At least, I've never felt like the group gave off that feeling. Republicans and Democrats shake their heads at our "stubbornness" and try and convince us (every 4 years) not to waste our vote. Sadly, many Libertarians (card-carrying and just leaning) are swayed to the right or the left so that their vote won't be lost. At that moment in the voting booth, the optimism that was displayed so vibrantly in each of these 23 essays disappears.

Republicans could read these stories and learn a valuable lesson. There are a few contributors that self-identify more with the right and admit to being Republican. However, I saw those contributors as on the edge of full conversion to Libertarianism. If Republicans read these stories and learned about why the right-leaning aren't over the Libertarian fence just yet...they might be able to coerce them off the fence. It would be a good challenge to see if Republican readers could use these stories to sway Libertarians to their cause.

Having said enough about Republicans, it's time for Democrats. Democrats and Liberals would like to believe that they are the party of optimism and hope. But I ask you, what is optimistic about cashing a government check? To me, that is the most depressing thing. To be at a point where charity, friends, family, and your own abilities have left you dependent on the one entity that won't say no--the government. It's a dark place to be. Let the optimism and different viewpoints from these everyday people pull you from that place. Liberals believe (I was one once after all!) that all of us not on their side are bigots, racists, sexists, elitist, money-grubbing, careless, angry, mean, cruel, heartless, evangelical snobs. I challenge any liberal to read all of these stories and then to believe in their big (dare I say bleeding? humor!) hearts that all of us in the book are exactly as you believe. As one of my fellow contributors is a schoolteacher in the public school system (and a few others were once there, but left), I don't think you can do it.

The most important reader of this book might be the least likely to read it. Libertarians struggling to stay optimistic during this election year are the ones that need this book the most. They need to know about the everyday people that are out there mentally supporting the right of all people to live their life. When Libertarians are in-fighting and arguing about the party platform, when they are struggling for ballot access, when they are fighting for Gary Johnson to get on the debates, and when they know that all of this fighting will most likely end in defeat...they should read this book. This book isn't the light at the end of the tunnel. It isn't the outside of the cave. This book is a call to make your own way and to stop following the path laid out by the right and the left. It makes you want to look up, instead of right and left. Look up into the third dimension. Look up and rise above all the fighting and bickering and government waste. And when you get to a higher place above all the two-party garbage, you can shine the beacon of liberty and feel the optimism grow. This book shows that you are not alone.

Lonely Libertarians...please read this book.

Why We Left the Left Personal Stories by Leftists/Liberals Who Evolved to Embrace Libertarianism eBook Tom Garrison Reviews

Awesome book! A must read!
The stories here are wonderful, especially because they come from a very diverse group of people, young and old, male and female, gay, intellectual and so on. These are real people who have learned that the burdensome ways of federal, state, and sometimes even local government squash the entrepreneural spirit and infringe on our freedom to be left alone. There's sure to be at least one story in this book that will strike a chord with you!
I'm a contributor, but I have not had the opportunity to read the other contributions until now. This collection of essays, as the forward suggests, is not a collection of angry white guys complaining about taxes. These essays run the gamut of the socio-political spectrum and serve to remind the reader -regardless of political persuasion- that libertarians are not potheads who like guns. These are people who are deeply concerned about the issues affecting education and business, foreign policy and domestic policy, family and country.

I highly recommend reading this as it provides insight into another side of politics, the personal side. It is not a collection of arguments promoting austrian economics or laisse faire capitalism. It is who we are as libertarians deeply concerned citizens and deeply passionate about our beliefs and love of country.
The last Libertarians I remember seeing in the flesh were a couple of college students shouting humorous but unprintable things about Dick Cheney while they handed out leaflets. That was obviously a few years ago. "Spirited but extreme" was the thought that went through my mind.

So I was curious to get a more balanced perspective on this political viewpoint.

This collection of short essays from two dozen former self-proclaimed leftists who came to embrace Libertarianism did just that. From college students to businessmen, plainspoken to eloquent, these pieces reflect opinions that are accessible to Democrats like me who think it's important to see the other guy's POV.

Although I'm still a (disgruntled) Democrat, I came away with a deeper understanding of a position not unlike my own. Living in the People's Republic of San Francisco, I found myself sharing many of the sentiments of these everyday people looking for a voice in a limited political landscape.

Tom Garrison's compilation of these stories is thoughtful and thorough and his piece and foreword some of the most insightful. If you want a quick deep dive into a political stance different from your own, you won't go wrong with this collection.
